Synthesis An old warehouse in ruin with 600 m2, is transformed and reduced its area, in a single house for a physician, through a deep rehabilitation. The distinction between the main house and a small volume, which this one, houses two bedrooms, and whose volumes of different volumes, are segregated by the materiality of the exterior floor and the cover of outer leisure space, but which their were previously connected. Given the large scale within the space of the old warehouse, it is proposed to reduce it, where from the outside, this scale mismatch is not evidenced. It is proposed the preservation of significant architectural elements, that contribute to the valorization of the new space to inhabit the interior of Alentejo. The partial demolition of the old roof in precarious conditions and preservation of structural wood elements and their arcades, define an outer space of leisure, being adjacent to the dwelling, this one, that is developed continuously along the generous lot. The wood structure that keeps this roof removed, evidences that it once existed, and that this space is now covered with arboreous species for the creation of shade.
Marble Estremoz stone details – characteristic of the region – punctuate the elevations of the house, in harmony with the white color of the house.
